Attributes

Please find below details of each of the attributes used in the game system and information about what they represent and the effect they will have in the game. Note that some game mechanic details are left intentionally vague.

Your specific ranks will not be visible to other players, however an indication of how strong/weak different attributes are will be common knowledge. It would not be difficult to for a Primarch to fathom where another Legions rough strengths lie.

A rough guide to how the Attributes are banded according to comparable strength as below: 0 Ranks = Incompetent/Terrible 1-4 Ranks = Competent/Average 5-8 Ranks = Specialized/Good 9+ Ranks = Exceptional/Amazing

Primarch Attributes

Primarch attributes are mainly used to provide your Legion with flexibility and boosts when required. Either through careful Strategic planning, Personal Might, Psychic Prowess or their influence with other Factions.

Strategic Planning

Your Primarch can lend their considerable strategic oversight to aid the Legion in a chosen area. Every turn you may pick Tactics, Espionage or Supply Rate to gain a bonus. Higher levels of Strategic planning allows you to pick an additional bonuses (you cannot pick the same bonus twice).

Martial Prowess

This is your Primarchs personal combat abilities. The game will feature locations which not battlegrounds but smaller crucial moments of a campaign where the Primarch would personally be taking on powerful individuals. This Attribute is used in these circumstances.

Statecraft

Your Primarchs ability to develop his Legions domain and his influence over other Imperial factions. Every turn you may pick an Influence or Homeworld attribute to try to increase by one rank. This is a random chance determined by a dice roll, the higher the value of the attribute you are increasing the more likely to fail. Higher levels of Statecraft give you additional chances if a roll failed.

Psychic Potential

Lower ranks of Psychic potential may cover things such as a Sixth Sense, Telepathy, Enhanced natural aptitude or some other abilities which would have limited impact on a battlefield. At Higher Ranks the Primarch can instead choice to add a bonus to Aggression or Mitigation by utilizing powerful Psychic attacks or Kine Shields to assist their Legion in Battle. If in a individual encounter this will be a bonus to Personal Combat.

Lords of Terra Influence

How much influence your Primarch has secured with Terra and it’s domains. Spending influence here usually provides additional fast intelligence, usually via the large contingent of Rogue Traders which Terra keeps under Charter, other uses may arise as the game progresses. For Each Rank of Lords of Terra Influence your Primarch you will earn that many "Boons" each turn which can be spent on different things throughout the game.

Imperial Army Influence

This influence shows the loyalty you command within the Regiments and Navies of the Imperial army. This can be used in special occasions to Permanently boost Legion combat abilities as forces swear to your Primarch. Alternatively the Army is deployed to provide additional resources and firepower when needed. For Each rank of Imperial Army Influence with your Primarch you will earn that many "Commissions" per turn which can be spent on different things throughout the game.

Mechanicus Influence

Your Primarchs influence with the Cult Mechanicus whom provide the fast amount of equipment required for keep the massive Imperial armadas moving forward. Mechanicus influence is very important for the Supply Rate of a Legion avoiding bottlenecks. For Each point of Mechanicus Influence with your Primarch you will earn that much "Archeotech" per turn which can be spent on different things throughout the game.

Legion Attributes

Legion Attributes are the primary factor when dealing with large scale battles during the game.

Aggression

This Attribute is used to determine how effective you Legion is at causing casualties to the enemy and overcoming their defences. The higher this value the more likely you are to overcome your opponents mitigation and cause additional casualties. This can be represented by various approaches. Berserk charges, Biowarfare, Assault Tactics, Blitzkrieg etc. Aggression is used when working out how many casualties your Legion Causes.

Mitigation

This attribute is a straightforward measure of your Legions toughness. How good it is at mitigating casualties. The higher this value the more likely you are to withstand your opponents Aggression and reduce attrition. This can be represented by Entrenchment doctrine, Natural resilience, Psychic shields, Hit and Run Attacks, Cybernetic implants. Mitigation is used to reduce the amount of casualties (Strength) your Fleet will lost in an attack,

Tactics

This represents your Legions dedication to military theory and how well it executes doctrine. A strong emphasis on tactics acts as a force multiplier and is required for both limiting damage and quickly crushing your enemies. However reliance on a rigid tactical plan can be exploited by those with greater intelligence and good misdirection. Tactics can be represented by excellent military tradition, Psychic prescience, battle cognitators or brilliant commanders. Provides a straight bonus to Legion Strength in combat.

Espionage

Espionage is your Legions ability to deceive and misdirect, also it’s intelligence gathering capabilities. Information is incredibly important weapon and superior intelligence can help to counter even the most brilliant strategic moves. This also helps keep information about your Forces obfuscated. This can be represented by Shadow operatives, Superior Scrying, Covert operations. Higher Espionage than your Opponent can reduce the effectiveness of enemy tactics.

Diplomacy

Maintaining a philosophy of communication and honesty can be an effective route to end a conflict or even prevent one from starting. Your Legions dedication and skills at a diplomatic approach could be useful in a number of situations. Diplomatic resolutions are based on a dice roll.

Geneseed

This attribute gives an indication of the robustness of the Legions Geneseed. A purer and compatible geneseed means new Astartes are easier to source and helps with replenishing a Legions strength. This also indicates a geneseeds vulnerability to degradation. Overuse of Genestores due to the immense demand for new Astartes meant Geneseed failures were common. Geneseed failures can have a variety of consequences.

Homeworld Attributes

These attributes represent the capabilities of your Home system. Your Home system is the Hub of your Legion required to support the Vast Expeditionary Fleets across the Galaxy.

Population

This attribute describes the pool of potential recruits with which to train neonates for your Legion. This could be a large pool of diverse candidates or a smaller pool of harder and more suitable subjects. This is a factor when determining how effectively your Legion Supply Rate.

Fabrication

This is a measure of your Legions ability to keep the wheels of war moving. Getting the ships, artillery and ammunition needed to fuel your Legion at an effective rate. Useful for any Legion specialist technology or other features. This could be represented by industrial works, orbital shipyards or close relations with other imperial resources. This is also important for Supply Rate.

Fortification

Pretty straightforward attribute which determines the fortification level of a Legions home. Fortifications primary function will be to keep your forces from harm. This does not necessarily represented by forts and defence systems but could include any natural phenomena that would make assaulting a location more difficult. Functions as additional Strength when taking Casualties.
