Hercule Vanzamt is a Terran Lord Commander of the [[Legion III: Star Lions]] legion.<br>

Former Legion Master and unofficial voice of the Terran elements of the Star Lions Vanzamt is a veteran of every conflict the Legion faced in its formative years. A Europan of noble descent his scarred exterior masks an unexpectedly urbane political animal equally at home in some Terran court as a Compliance action.

His battle skills are also exceptional and his Relic Glaive Mallus has reaped an impressive tally over the years even encased in his Terminator armour. Indeed for every life saved by Political acumen one may be lost by his battlelust (And lack of command oversight) once he hits the field, leading to many rumours that he may in fact be a catspaw of the Sigillite who has certainly favoured him over the years.

Whatever the truth of it Linnaeus retained him in Legion command and placed him as Lord Commander of the Prestigious 1st Battalion. Largely Terran they have a hard edge and depth of experience which can make up for a Commander's momentary lack of control.

1st Battalion are known informally as the "Star Ravens" and the Raven on a blood red field is a common device on their wargear and banners. They favour feigned weakness and devastating counterattacks and tend to concentrate their forces rather more than typical amongst the Lions. Consequently they make greater use of Manticore units and Heavy armour assets than most other forces.
