 Whilst the two forces clashed in space above the besieged world, Johannes led his legion to the planet below and deployed them around the Mechanicum servants desperately repairing the giant defence lasers and orbital missiles, knowing that the cunning Ork Warlord would be forced to meet them in battle there.  Several smaller companies were also dispatched to a number of highly populated hives.
-The fighting raged for a full week.  Scores of warships on both sides were destroyed, thousands of marines and Imperial army soldiers were slain, even the mighty Flagship of the Harbingers "place holder" took so much damage she would spend the next three years being refitted.  At the climax of the battle, Johannes meet the Ork Warlord in single combat, for six hours the two mighty Paragons of their races traded blows, until finally Johannes managed to strike the Ork's head from his shoulders with a mighty swipe of his sword Callandor.

 Early on in the crusading history of the Harbingers, one of their attached explorator vessels stumbled across a derelict vessel in orbit of a world that had clearly been ravaged by recent heavy fighting.  Upon boarding the vessel it was discovered to be a system defence monitor for the planet below, which appeared to be a colony of the Mechanicum.  The Harbingers contacted the Priests of Mars, but they had no record of any Forge-worlds in the vicinity and urged Johannes to investigate further.
